NINE MONTHS
By David Hanlon
I lived as that tealight candle
in the corner
of the raven-dark bathroom
where the blank tiled wall
meets the porcelain bathtub
flickering, dimming—
a waning flashlight
at a search party
Now, I gaze
at its small flame
asking an answer
for an answer
